What is the 4th of July, and why do we celebrate it?
July 4, 1776 the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. Men and Women of this nation fought against the British Empire for freedom. Freedom for its people to have self governance. Freedom from unfair taxation. Freedom to create this country, the United States of America, where all citizens are created equal. Where the government protects all its citizens’ right to LIFE, LIBERTY and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.
That last part has been slowly stripped away over the years by an elected cabal of individuals who believe to their core that they know better than the rest of us what we “need”. These career politicians claim to act in our best interests, however they only act in their own best interest. Instead of representing the people, they are more interested in staying in power and controlling us with repressive laws, taxes, lies and deceit.
It is time that we, as citizens, remember what our forefathers believed in. What they fought for and died to defend. It is time we take a stand and take our freedom back once again from the politicians who oppress the American people. Our forefathers saw what a great nation this could be when we all pursue the same cause, Freedom. I see it, Do you?
So when we are celebrating this wonderful day, America’s birthday, with family and friends around a barbecue and fireworks, let us not forget the great risks our founding fathers took by signing this Declaration of Independence. Let us not forget those before us who sacrificed for those freedoms that we so easily take for granted. Amen!!!
